writing things down…

An Explanation

I’m having to rethink the whole blogging practice. I am finding it more and more difficult to maintain any sort of consistency. Without going into too much, life is a bit overwhelming at the moment. I need to prioritize, and blogging is not high on the priority list during this season. In addition to teaching a new class, for which I have an inadequate amount of time to prepare, I have a handful of book reviews to complete by the summer. But, bigger than either of those things is the new job I will be starting sometime this summer. Gail and I will be moving here for me to start work here. There’s more going on that I am not at liberty to share at the moment. Needless to say, blogging for the next few months will be sporadic and brief if anything at all.

You’ll love Eugene. Having graduated from Northwest Christian College and having done graduate studies at the UofO, I can say that it’s a beautiful place — if you can get around the rain.

I hope you enjoy Wipf and Stock — Dave Root was my teacher and Jon Stock was my student — good people both!

Congratulations on the new job; it sounds exciting.

I knew that it looked real good, but now that it’s on your blog I guess it’s official. Woohoo! I’m so excited for you, Chris. I’m envious of your move to the Northwest, beats the heck out of SoCal in my opinion.

I should also mention that whenever your life is less overwhelming, I do hope you get back into blogging because yours is one of my favorite blogs. It would be even if I didn’t have the pleasure of knowing you personally. I resonate with the kinds of questions you ask about texts, teaching, other scholars, etc. I would be enormously interested in reading your perspective on being inside the publishing world once you’re settled in a bit.

I know time can spread thin and blogging is not at the top of the list, but I would like to just let you know how much I appreciate your blog.
